And She's Climbing The Stairway To Cliché-dom

Another drive-by to pick up mail and....look! Stairs!!

Here they are by the light of day. The space underneath has been left as open as possible so that storage is an option down the road.

Looking down. There's no balcony yet.

The construction crew has been pretty busy downstairs, too. They've put plywood up on most of the framing to form actual walls, as well as building the first-floor ceiling/second-floor floor joists.

The joists will be covered with more plywood soon, but until then the whole house has a wonderful light and shadow effect going on.

The top of the stairs. It's a little scary up here, actually.

Once it's sheeted, you could actually walk around. I wanted to get a picture of the flat deck, but the crew was just too fast for me again. Those boards are the very beginings of our walls.

The grandest structure begins as just a few lines--rather literally. That black thing on the edge is a drain line.

Here's the view from Noah's "room" looking over Ballona Creek.

I didn't move my feet since taking the last shot, but just pointed the camera down. It's a long way down (that pile of lumber at the top of the picture is a good 4' or so tall).

Standing in my "bedroom" and looking toward the stairs.

The downstairs looks quite different with it's "ceiling". I took these pictures to see if there was going to be enough light. Considering that it's late afternoon and there's no flash, I'm pretty content. This picture is standing approximately at the kitchen sink.

Standing in the entry.

The downstairs bath with the office beyond it.

It's kind of nice to see a fairly solid-looking structure on our little patch of land.

Next time: Upstairs: The final frontier (well, if you don't count the attic or the roof!)
