Who Framed Stevens Circle?
We drive past our house nearly every day on the way to Noah's preschool. As I drive, I tend to peer down the street to see there is anything going on. It was pretty cool to peer down the street last Wednesday and see....walls!

Well, the bones of walls, at least. Still, it was really nice to see something taking shape.
Everyone I've spoken to who has had any experience in the matter all said the same thing. Framing goes really quickly. And they really weren't kidding!
By the next day, it looked like this. Between Tuesday afternoon and Friday evening, the workmen put all all the walls of the ground floor.
Finally, we could actually walk through our house (well, half of it, since there's a story yet to build) and get a sense of just how big these rooms are supposed to be. Noah was thrilled---finally, he could walk around be in rooms! Very exciting---I can't wait until the staircase and second floor are up, too!
Noah stares out the front door forlornly down the street.
"I wish my friends would come play...."
So, we invited a few friends over.

Here, our down-the-street neighbor Michael checks out the ground floor while down-the-street neighbor Alex does a walk around the house.

Noah, Apolline, and Manon race over to check out the stairs.

Wait...there aren't any stairs here!
Of course, if you're not walking around, it's a little hard to make sense of things. Here are a few pictures that will hopefully help:

The front door from the sidewalk.

Looking out the front door and down the street.

Standing in the living room staring at the fireplace.

Our bay window (with fireplace behind).
The view out the bay window. The big diagonal piece of wood is one of the many holding up the house until they cover it with plywood, which does the same thing without taking up nearly so much floorspace, as well as doing a nice job keeping the outside outside and the inside inside.

Standing at the "kitchen sink" looking across the house. None of the front had been put up yet.

The stairwell.

More of the stairwell.

The kitchen and dining room (with more temporary diagonal supports).

Our wonderful pantry and laundry room/doggie bedroom.
Next time: Plywood panels and stairs to nowhere...
